You are after all a giant chemistry set.
I mention this in my book about being a big bag of hormones.
In my imagination we are being driven by a Jim Henson puppet, there is a scene in The Labyrinth where a tiny gremlin was in the head of a robotic gremlin frantically pushing and pulling levers pressing buttons and trying to keep the thing of course.
This is essentially the same for us, let’s call the gremlin homeostasis or Rita, the poor bugger, in for a bumpy ride. We trot around lifing and Rita is in the control centre effing and jeffing at almost all our choices.
Everything we do, eat, think, create effects our bodies. Right down to a molecular level. How we were raised, what we have been exposed to or not in that time affects our health. It quite literally blows my mind.
I’m not coming at you here with the very toxic notion that you manifest your health, but we can’t ignore the huge connections our inner and outer worlds play on our inner and outer health. It’s more entwined than the box of fairy lights you put away last year perfectly wrapped around cardboard.
We are a big bag of hormones, these hormones talk to each other and it absolutely has affects on our period hormones. It can’t not.
Practical aspects like clean eating and clean personal products go a really long way to helping endocrine health. So too does dancing with utter abandon and howling your eyes out with snot flying out your nose because your last nerve has just been trounced.
Our mental health is a key player in our hormonal health landscape and the more I walk down this path the more I see it, fully.
Stress is one of the biggest problems we face, when we are dealing with it it changes the axis on how we live and exist in our own life. When you are stressed your are surviving. When you can navigate your stress with boundaries, quitting toxic behaviours like people pleasing, co-dependancy, masking and shapeshifting you allow your body to do it’s thing.
There is so much talk around this words but it is vital we help ourselves so the Rita’s driving the show get a break, manage a wee, a brew and can crack on helping you to help run the show you want to be part of.
I have a short course called how to have a mindful period that you might be interested in in
vesting in for yourself. You can read more about it here.
